The pictured monument, crated and reinforced with iron bars, is stored in the basement of a building in downtown Alliston. The current owner of the building is intrigued that this monument has remained in the basement for presumably decades. From 1892 to mid-1950s, the building was owned by the Edmonds family and operated as a jewellery store until 1929. It is unknown if the name on the monument has any relationship to that family. In the mid-1930s, the building was occupied by CNR express agent Arthur Feltis. Perhaps the monument was either delivered to Alliston during that time or prepared for delivery but moved to the basement for whatever reason. The names of the deceased appear to have been partially obliterated. Based on the birth and death dates and the partial letters of the name, does anyone have any idea who this person might be?
